The present day sitting Governor of Katsina State Malam Dikko Umar Radda PhD  had earlier served as Charanchi Local Government chairman from 2004--2007.Those years were so eventful as they earned him the name Dikko Dan Amana. *He* was code named Dan Amana because of his performance in the areas of projects execution,  human development as well as health and educational improvements.

That was why the people of the atea tagged him with that suffix , meaning " The One that Safeguards the Trust Bestowed on Him'. Many people were later to give various interpretations to it , because they didn't know how it originates.

During the days of his stewardship as Charanchi Local Government chairman, Dikko Radda stays in office provided he is in Katsina State. All Departments were busy as there were always a work for them. Contractors were going in and out for one project or the other. The interesting thing was that contractors were not  complaining over non payment of jobs executed for the local government.

Local Government staff were also not reporting any problem with the payment of their salary, allowances or any other entitlement.

Revenue drive was also given attention under Malam Dikko Umar, as the Charanchi local council chairman. Charanchi Market happens to be one of the famous weekly markets in Katsina State Sunday is the main market day , but businesses start on Saturday and its traces could still be witnessed on Monday of every week. For that reason, Dikko Radda PhD as Chairman , gave the market a facelift and improved its sanitary condition, with particular 

attention to the Sloughter slab to ensure  provision of healthy meat for healthy society.

Traditional institutions in Charanchi Local Government of Katsna state were also held in high esteem by Dikko Radda which made the Late Emir of Katsina Alh Muhammadu Kabir Usman turbanned him as Gwagaren Katsina  while serving as Chairman of Charanchi Local Council. Having come from the Ruling House, with a Royal Blood of Katsina Emir's Ruling family , Dikko Umar Radda supported the District Heads of Charanchi Alh Abashe Abdulkadir and that of Kuraye late Alh Amadu Abdullahi to perform their duties. Charanchi Local Government area was generally known to be peaceful. The major security challenge at that time was Armed Robbery in the nights of weekly Charanchi market days. The robbers attack marketers returning home after the days business, along Charanchi-Kankia, Charanchi-Kafinsoli, Charanchi-Katsina, and Charanchi-Bindawa/Tama roads at different locations. 

However, Dikko Umar Radda as the then, Chairman of Charanchi Local Council collaborated with the traditional rulers and members of vigilante groups to assist the Police and relevant security agencies in curtailing the problem.

It is often said that in politics there is no permanent friend or permanent enemy. That statement has manifest in the position Dikko Radda found himself today. When he was the chairman of charanchi local government  he was politically at logger heads with Dr Badamasi Lawal Charanchi as they both contested for chairman under PDP at primary election level.

Similarly at the heat of the build up to 2007 elections it was reportedly said that  the powers that be in Katsina, have decided to support Rt Hon Aminu Bello Masari the then, Speaker of the House of Representatives as the gubernatorial candidate of the PDP in Katsina State and  Dikko Radda PhD was among the few saddled with the execution of that responsibility.

Overtly or covertly, the then, powers that be in Abuja were also reportedly said to have sent in Ibrahim Shehu  Shema to be nominated as the PDP candidate for the 2007 Governorship contest under PDP.

At this point Dikko Radda stood his ground and said he was going by the first order and remained with Rt. Hon. Aminu Bello Masari.

That action put him at variance with the State Government. Because of his popularity at the local council area، , the Commissioner of Police, the State PDP Chairman and other security apparatus were all at Charanchi  Local Government Secretariat , venue of the primary election for fear of the fact that Government backed aspirants may lose the elections. Even the village head of Radda who is an elder brother to Dikko Radda had to be kept on his toes.

The United stand taken by Dikko Raddà as Chairman, Lawal Isa Kuraye as vice Chairman who is now member representing Charanchi Local Government at State House of Assembly Katsina

 and Bello Nasiru as Secretary had to be relaxed and they  simply apply siddon  look syndrome due to the combined forces before them.

But politics being what it is, today they are ALL in the same party which is a proof that there is no permanent enemity in politics.
